In 2003 the name Mahkamah Syariah Selangor was changed to the  Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Negeri Selangor (JAKESS) in accordance with the development and enhancement of the quality of service to pelanggan.Penubuhan Selangor Syariah Court is under the provisions of Section 55 (1), 55 (2), 55 (3) and 55 (4) of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.
