Kedah forestry sector is one of the major contributors to the state revenue. The forestry sector provides employment to nearly 6550 people in the state through forest harvesting and wood-based industries.In this regard, the forest area in the state to be managed properly and systematically in order to maintain its importance to the nature. Based on this, the Kedah State Government has set up the Department of Forestry in 1923 (Edward, 1950).
