Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) was established on 1 September 2009. Ekuinas is a government-linked company that controls the management of private equity funds with the aims to help Bumiputera have equity shares and other equity and encourage Bumiputera participation in the highly competitive sector of the economy through the establishment of the company in Malaysia. To establish Ekuinas, the Malaysian Government has provided start-up funds in the form of grants in a trust fund known as the National Equity Foundation.
