Akademi Sains Malaysia (ASM) was established on 1 February 1995 under the Academy of Sciences Act 1994 and has functioned since as an independent body with the pursuant for excellence in the fields of science, engineering and technology for the development of the nation and the benefit of mankind.

The Academy has strong linkages to the govenrment as the nation’s STI think tank and is enthusiastic in promoting excellence in science through engaging discourse, workshops, special scientific projects and publication.
